Good morning,
Today you will follow the agenda below: 1. You will need to read and annotate "A Bird with Many Beaks" article and answer the questions below. Please the your annotation key to be sure you are annotating correctly. Just highlighting text is not sufficient. I should see you interact with the text. (questions, comments, main ideas, summaries) 2. Go to google classroom and write your CER. It is due by next class on Friday. 3. Add mutation and sexual reproduction to your vocabulary. 4. You will have a vocabulary quiz tomorrow (Wednesday) over all vocabulary over evolution If you have any questions please email me at [email protected]. Standard: HS-LS4-2
Objective: SWBAT construct an explanation on how natural selection lead to change over time (evolution) in the finches. Do Now: Artificial Selection Artificial selection is when specific traits are deliberately selected for or against by humans. Is artificial selection considered evolution? Explain. Do Next: Click here to review vocabulary! Agenda: 1. A Bird with Many Beaks Article w/ Questions 2. Reveiw Vocabulary: mutation/sexual reproduction 3. Use google classroom to write your final draft for your CER 4. Exit Ticket Homework: Add the following words to your notebook: mutation, sexual reproduction Final Draft (CER) submitted by next class (Thur/Fri) Quiz on Wednesday over (evolution) vocabulary Standard: HS-LS4-2
Objective: SWBAT construct an explanation on how natural selection lead to change over time (evolution) in the finches. Do Now: EVOLUTION OF THE ELEPHANT Today’s elephants are the result of a long process of evolution. Over millions of years, small changes were passed from one generation to the next. The first fossil elephant species were small, but over time, they increased both in size and weight. The three species alive today are the sole survivors of a once much more widespread group. Explain why some elephant species did not survive. Do Next: Click here to review vocabulary! Agenda:
Homework: 3rd Period: Complete CER Graphic Organizer Due Monday 2nd Period: Complete CER Graphic Organizer Due Tuesday Good morning,
If you received a 7/10 or lower in your water properties please take 10 minutes to study. Use your notebook(Do Now) and water properties ppt to study. Email me when you are ready to take the quiz. ([email protected]) Then you should work on your homework. You should work on Darwin's Finches Lab. You should finish all three graphs, analysis questions, and vocabulary. Email me for any questions. Standard: HS-LS4-2
Objective: SWBAT differentiate between Lamarck’s theory and Darwin’s theory of evolution. SWBAT discover how natural selection can develop adaptations in populations over time by participating in the Darwin’s finches activity. Do Now: Click here to take a quiz to test your knowledge over inherited v. acquired traits. After you are done please keep your score up on the screen. Do Next: Click here to learn about Natural Selection Agenda: 1. Go over Do Now 2. Theory 3. Inherited v. Acquired Traits 4. Lamarck v. Darwin 5. Darwin's Finches Lab Homework:

Standard: HS-LS4-2 Objective: SWBAT differentiate between Lamarck’s theory and Darwin’s theory of evolution. SWBAT determine the process of evolution results from the proliferation of those organisms that are better able to survive and reproduce in the environment. Do Now: You should have picked it up when you walked in. Do Next: Click here to review upcoming vocabulary. 1. Once you are done with you do now and have reviewed the vocabulary in the do next, please ask the sub for the passage referring to scientific theories. 2. Read and annotate the passages. Paste in your notebook. Please be sure you understand what is the difference between a hypothesis and theory. 3. Open your notebook to a fresh new page. Title it Acquired v. Inherited Trait. Click here. Take notes over the website. The purpose of taking the notes is to understand the difference between an Acquired Trait and an Inherited Trait. Answer the questions on the website in your notebook in complete sentences. 4. Once you are done, then ask your sub for Comparison of Evolution Mechanisms: Summary worksheet. Read and annotate. 5. Flip the page. Read both scenarios and answer the questions on the bottom. If you do not have space to answer the questions on the page, use another paper. You will turn in this worksheet to the sub. It will be graded. 6. Once you are done, please ask for your exit ticket. Turn in after you are done. Homework: Vocabulary in your notebook:
